Dr. Sherif Babatunde Adeyemi is a Reader (Associate Professor) in the Department, specializing in Ethnobotany. He earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Uka Tarsadia University, India (2022), following an M.Sc. in Botany (Ethnobotany) from the University of Ibadan (2011) and a B.Sc. in Plant Biology from the University of Ilorin (2007). His research focuses on Ethnobotany, phytochemistry, antimicrobial screening, antidiabetics, and herbal tea formulations. Dr. Adeyemi has secured significant grants, including TETFund awards totaling over ₦10 million, and has published more than 45 scholarly articles, several in Q1–Q4 Scopus-indexed journals. Dr. Adeyemi was recognized as the 2024 Outstanding Lecturer in his department; he actively contributed to academia as Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences (2024-2025), postgraduate coordinator (2023-2024), and reviewer for international journals. His professional memberships include the Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON) and the Society for Economic Botany (SEB).
