Research Interest

  • - CRISPR-Cas genome editing and plant gene engineering.
  • - RT-PCR quantification and expression pattern studies of drought-related genes and omic analyses in small millets.
  • - Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and detection of QTLs of important agronomic traits in small millets.
  • - Small millets transformation through morphogenic/developmental gene expression cassettes via agrobacterium-mediated technique and evaluation of transgenic generations for crop improvement.
  • - Recombinant DNA technology (rDNA Tech), agrobacterium construct design, protocol design and optimisation, and evaluation for transformation and regeneration efficiencies.
  • - Molecular analysis of genetic diversity of small millets and their wild relatives.
  • - Genome-wide association study of cereal for putative pests’ resistance genes.
  • - Molecular breeding using Marker Assisted Selection and hybrid development by pyramiding the input genes, understanding the molecular basis of hybrid vigour in crop and medicinal plants.
  • - Mutation breeding and mutagenesis in orphan crop
  • - Meristematic culture and micropropagation of economic tree crops by temporary immersion bioreactor system (TIBs).
