Plant Biology

David Adedayo Animasaun is a Reader in the Department of Plant Biology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Ilorin. He has over a decade of experience in teaching and research at the university level. Dr Animasaun had postdoctoral experiences from reputable universities in the United States of America, India, and Germany. He has served on various departmental, faculty, and university committees. His teaching and research areas cover applied genetics, plant breeding, molecular biology, and biotechnology, and he has been involved in teaching, mentoring, and supervising students both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Animasaun has to his credit commissioned projects and executed grants. Additionally, he has more than seventy research publications in reputable outlets, including journals, edited conference proceedings, and book chapters. Furthermore, Dr Animasaun is a member of professional bodies within and outside Nigeria.

Teaching

Undergraduate

I teach courses in Cell Biology, Laboratoty Practices in Botany, Evolution, Cytogenetics, Applied genetics, Plant breeding, and Molecular Biology

Postgraduate

My postgraduate teaching courses cover tissue culture, applied genetics, basic principles and practices of plant breeding, quantitative genetics, and plant genetic resources management.
Other include genetic engineering and genome editing, bioinformatics and molecular biology, and stem cell concept and practices.
