Biography

Dr Clement Ogunkunle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Biology, University of Ilorin. He has previously held administrative positions such as Postgraduate Coordinator, Departmental Examination Officer, Departmental Seminar Coordinator, and at various times level advisor to different levels.
He has won several academic awards and fellowships, including the Thailand International Development Award (TIDA), the World Academy of Sciences-German Research Foundation (TWAS-DFG) Postdoctoral fellowship, and the World Academy of Sciences-German Research Foundation (TWAS-DFG) Alumni Award. In 2022, the UK Royal Society endorsed Dr Ogunkunle as a United Kingdom Global Talent.
He is a member of some national and international professional bodies, such as the Botanical Society of Nigeria (BSN), Ecological Society of Nigeria (ESN), Society for Environmental Contamination and Toxicology (SETAC), International Phytotechnologies Society (IFS), UK Royal Society of Biology (RSB) and UK Institution for Environmental Sciences (IES).
Dr Ogunkunle is a plant ecologist with a special phytoremediation, phytonanoremediation and nano-agriculture for food safety and a sustainable environment. He has to his credit over 70+ publications in reputable outlets covering journals, edited conference proceeding and chapters in books. He has successfully supervised over 10 Masters dissertations and co-supervised 3 Ph.D. theses.
